BREAKING NEWS!
MAAS (Manitoba Association of Agricultural Societies)
in partnership with Manitoba Homecoming 2010 invites you to participate
in a special event.
Manitoba Homecoming 2010 is going to be a year long experience bringing
together former and current Manitobans, visitors, friends and families
together for events, festivals and an all around great celebration.
Manitoba’s homecoming will be an extended showcase of everything that’s
great about our province, easily seen in our festivals, cultural events
and in community gatherings of all sorts. For many of those who return,
they’ll wonder why they ever left. For those of us who’ve stayed, it
will be a time to say with pride, “welcome home, let us show you what
we’ve done with the place.” To recognize Manitoba Homecoming 2010 a
special quilt competition will take place the theme of the
quilt to be “Celebrating Homecoming.”
First
prize will take home $2,800 and the winning quilt being hung at Manitoba
House at the Olympics in Vancouver in 2010. The winning quilt will be
unveiled at the MAAS Conference in January 2010. For further details and
to register for the event please visit the following website:
http://www.manitobahomecoming2010.com/
Agricultural Societies have an opportunity to be a participant in this
event. We will be seeking the various districts to come together to hold
the regional judging competition in November 2009. Winning quilts from
those events will move on to the final competition in December 2009. If
you want to participate please check out the website and rules and
contact the Superintendent of Agricultural Societies at 726-6195.
Agricultural Societies who partner to hold a separate “Homecoming 2010”
regional quilt competition within the District are eligible for grant
money up to 80% of the cost of the event by applying for the Special
Education Grant. Contact the Superintendent of Agricultural Societies in
advance for approval.
Be part
of Manitoba Homecoming 2010 and also benefit from national advertising
and exposure in highlighting your District Agricultural Societies and
region, courtesy of Manitoba Homecoming 2010.
Spread
the word to present and potential quilters, to present Manitobans and
former Manitobans. Let’s get behind Manitoba Homecoming 2010 and make
this an exciting and successful event for Manitoba, for your district,
and your Agricultural Society.
